ACTIVITIES / RESOURCES
Choose whatever resources work for your group, your setting, and time frames. You may want a quiet chill activity, simply hanging and eating together, group dance or zumba party, crafts, bake off, or dive deep into resources around issues girls/women are facing.
These are just suggestions and ideas – the sky is the limit.
The real focus of the event is on empowering guests to ChooseREAL in their everyday lives, to share their stories, encourage one another, have a platform to practice and celebrate being REAL, and be inspired to be brave and courageously choose to live out the truth that they (AND EVERYONE AROUND THEM) are more than enough, just as they are.
These additional activities and resources can take guests on a journey of self-discovery, equip them with tools, provide a platform for sharing, or an outlet of fun and release. We have broken them into 5 sections:
Chill Activities
Active Group Activities
Empowering Resources / Activities
Printable Tool Sheets
Creative Activities
Don’t stress about the activities, let them just be add ons to the core message.
With these resources, you could even do multiple events or monthly / quarterly sessions.
SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE RESOURCES AND EVENT ACTIVITIES WITH US TO INSPIRE AND ENABLE OTHERS IN THEIR DIY EVENTS.
CHILL ACTIVITIES:
Fill out ChooseREAL STORY response cards together
You could even set up a stage or space where girls can then be empowered by sharing their story with everyone. This can be such an affirming platform. You could also take polaroids or pictures of the girls with their stories as gifts to remind them of their REAL value when they feel lost.
Encouragement Cards
Who doesn’t love being encouraged? There are so many ways to do this activity:
Lay out papers, pens, decorative items and allow girls to make encouragements for others
Have a wall of envelopes, each with someone’s name (give labels to people when they arrive to stick on an envelope). Then everyone can be filling out encouragements for lots of people throughout your event
Pair up – have some get to know each other games / questions and then write an encouragement for each other
Dear Me
Give everyone paper and pens to write a letter to their younger self – a letter of encouragement, advice I now know, how its all going to be alright, to embrace their real identity etc. Again, girls may want to share these with others as an affirmation. This can also be really great if your event has multi generations – being encouraged by those who have gone before you and also getting insight from those in different situations and those younger than you too.
Letter to My Future Self
Writing a letter you can read in the future – can be an encouraging note, things you are working on now, dreams, achievements, reminders – whatever you want. Then you can be encouraged later by how far you’ve come or reminded of your worth.
FOOD / DRINKS
Make and drink smoothies, hot chocolates, fresh juices
Set up an Icecream Sunday Bar
Make your own cookies, decorate cupcakes, friendship fudge ++
Pamper Stations
Take some time to love ourselves and each other. Massages, nails, hair, facemasks, draw empowering (washable) tattoos or words of affirmation ++
MoreThanEnough Cards
Different ways you can use these cards and encourage girls to invite others to join them:
Encouragement Cards - look out for people to encourage, write their name on the top of these cards and even a message on the back. Or write your name on the front and pass the cards around, writing encouragements or strengths on the back about that person. Or simply just give them out.
Pass it on - see how many people you can pass the card around to and join the movement. Write your name on the back, take a selfie, and pass it on. Then that person can write their name on the back, take a selfie, tag the person they got the card from, and pass it on. Like an empowering chain.
Finders Keepers - leave these cards around for people to find (in a cafe, library book, bus stop, train seat etc) - a message to encourage whoever comes across it.
Share and Declare - take a selfie with this card and post it on your social media streams. Encourage others to join with you in this movement and that they are more than enough, just as they are.
Chill games
Bocce, ring toss, finska / klop, giant jenga
ACTIVE GROUP ACTIVITIES:
Dance Party – let go of expectations and just dance like no one’s watching – the sillier, the better. Either watch youtube dance lessons together, come up with a group routine, play Just Dance, have a disco, barn dance, or freestyle dancing. You could even theme your event to be 70’s lycra.
Zumba Party – let those shimmys free you and bring on the laughter. Get an instructor or enthusiast, or watch a youtube sesh together
Group fun workout – get the heart pumping!
All-in group games or sport – great way to connect and have fun! Could have teams / challenges or all together, encouraging wide-games (clues to ChooseREAL), minute to win it, sporting fun, inside or outside messy games, theater sports, charades ++
Sing Star or Karaoke Party – let it rip!
Trivia – could be around inspirational people and being REAL.
