🔥 Invisible scratches that slowly erode. One moment of trying to please, another moment or trying to prove, another moment of trying to perfect, another moment of hiding who we are, another moment of trying to be like them...
Moment after moment and before long, we don’t even realize that we’ve eroded our true selves for what we think others want.
Tiny choices or unconscious decisions that don’t seem like much at the time, but over time all add up and mask our real identity and confidence.
But all is not lost.
What has been chipped away and eroded by pleasing and proving and perfecting is not lost.
Because your value and worth can never be taken away. It’s just hidden under a pile of “shoulds” and “not enoughs” and “fit ins”.
So it’s a process of pealing back, stripping away what we’ve let stick to us, letting go of everything we’re not, so we can see and embrace everything we are.
This can be a lifetime journey, so buckle up, you won’t wanna go back.
👉 Have you ever thought or thinking now, “how did I get here?!” You’re not alone.
👉 Maybe start a list of recognizing the big and tiny things you might have let erode your confidence or need to please others or feeling of not enough. Take back the ground they took. Become aware of them for the next time they come.
Don’t be critical of yourself, we all do this. Just have compassionate awareness.
When you are aware of it, you can deal with it. One scratch at a time.
