Here’s some proven ways to help complete emotional / stress cycles (the body continues to go into overdrive protection, even over little stressors unless we tell it it’s safe and can relax). Here’s some ways to complete the cycle:
1. Physical activity - just moving your body in anyway.
2. Creative self-expression - art, writing, music, making, dance, journaling, imagining etc. Let creativity help you process and release.
3. Breathing - deep, slow breaths. 10 seconds in, 10 seconds out. You’re telling your body it’s ok, it’s safe.
4. Connection - encourage someone, have a 20 second hug. Again, you’re telling your mind and body that it is safe and home.
5. Sleep - helps reset the system.
Lovely one, you don’t have to hold it all in, or even hold it all together.
