“Of all the things I’ve done over the past year, asking for help is one of the things I’m most proud of. I’ve always prided myself on my ability to analyse and unpack stuff, but I can see now how important it was that I wasn’t the only head involved in that process. You need people who can help unravel your thoughts, correct your path, and listen without an agenda. So I'm seeing a counsellor. Yep, I see a human whose job it is to help people get through their lives.
And although we might have the best friends and family in the world, most of the time they’re not professionally trained and they’re not able to be 100% objective. ✨
So if you’re thinking about it, I’d encourage you to do it. Apparently it can take someone up to 10 years to ask for help. So many of us live with the lie that if we’re strong, we should be able to do everything on our own.
But the truth is that strong people know that we’re better together and that asking for help or speaking up is what takes real courage." - beautiful words from @dukeofhannah
We ALL need help. It shows strength not weakness to reach out, to bring others into your story, to walk out this journey together.
So, do you need to gather people around you, reach out for help? Or look around and see who might be reaching out? Could you be that hand to help pull them to their feet? We need each other. 💜Ruth x
