Replacing Criticism with Compassion

Hey lovelies, 🙋‍♀️ I’m Ruth, the heart 💜 behind these posts, and I have a CONFESSION to make...

I have been really struggling with how SELF-CRITICAL, condemning and harsh I am to myself.

Saying things to myself that I would NEVER say to another person.

Pointing out my mistakes and not my wins, labeling myself a failure, criticizing everything I do, trapping myself in this cycle of shame.

But enough is enough! I should be and want to be my greatest cheerleader. Championing myself, lifting off shame, motivating myself forward instead of keeping myself back.

So here’s my challenge to myself:

1. Delete the word FAILURE from my vocabulary
2. Replace it with COMPASSION - instead of criticism I will be compassionate to myself⠀

Here’s a few other words for compassion:
- tenderness
- empathy
- kindness
- grace
- consideration
- heart
- softness
- humanity (that’s an interesting one - it’s our mistakes, flaws and learnings that connect us)

👉🏻 How bout you? Are you struggling with anything? You are not alone.
👉🏻 Is there a word / action you need to delete?
👉🏻 What are you replacing it with?

We’re in it together lovely xx

💜Ruth x
