B R E A T H E . Did you know that even just 3 deep breaths in and out can realign your system? If we've been pushing hard (physically and/or emotionally), our system depletes and we need to build it back up again.
Our system doesn't tell the difference between running a marathon, overworking into the night, or being stressed out, anxious, overwhelmed and upset - both physical and emotional pressure depletes the same system - I never knew that, I always separated by physical exhaustion from being mentally or emotionally drained. But they both effect the same system - which needs to be refilled.
And just like it's essential to recover after running a marathon, its essential to recover after a stressful, tiring, emotional day/week. It's not indulgent, it's essential to your health.
R E C O V E R Y - Restoring your system
Ok, so here's just a few quick ways to refill your tank:
x- BREATHE - 3 (or more) deep breaths - 5/6 secs in and out
x- THANKFULNESS / POSITIVE EMOTIONS - studies prove that if you think about something you're grateful for, something that makes you happy, while deep breathing, you realign your system so much more effectively
x- POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS - hang out with people that energize you, that you feel good around. This helps boost your system back
x- ACTIVE RESTING - doing something you love, changing environments, pick up a hobby that rests your mind and body
x- SLEEP
